Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site, located near Musselburgh on Scotland’s East Lothian coast, has been named Camping Site of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality Awards for the second consecutive year.
The award was presented during the Scottish Hospitality Awards ceremony held in Glasgow on June 17. The recognition marks the second year in a row that the campground has received the honor, highlighting its continued presence within Scotland’s outdoor accommodation sector.
Situated within the walled grounds of a former monastery and approximately 10 miles from Edinburgh, Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site offers a range of accommodation options, including self-catering lodges, glamping pods, en-suite bothies, campervan pitches, and tent camping spaces. The property operates year-round and serves both domestic and international visitors exploring East Lothian and the surrounding region.
Angie Purves, site manager at Drummohr, said: “Winning this award for a second year is a fantastic achievement for the whole team and something we’re incredibly proud of.
“We work hard to create a welcoming, high-quality experience for our guests while supporting the local tourism community, so it’s brilliant to see that recognised at a national level.”
The site has positioned itself as a family-oriented destination through amenities that include accessible bathroom facilities with baths, themed glamping accommodations designed around wizard, adventure, and fairy concepts, family bothies, and a large playground.
In addition to its family-focused offerings, the campground has received recognition for its pet-friendly policies, according to Edinburgh News. In 2024, Drummohr was named the most dog-friendly campsite in the United Kingdom. The property allows up to two dogs free of charge on all tent and touring pitches.
Other guest amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi, a retail shop featuring local products, a heated indoor campers’ kitchen, laundry facilities, and restroom and shower buildings equipped with underfloor heating.
The campground’s location near East Lothian’s beaches, golf courses, and the John Muir Way also contributes to its appeal among golfers, walkers, and cyclists.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the recognition reflects several trends influencing the sector, including the growing demand for diversified accommodation types, family-focused experiences, accessibility features, and pet-friendly policies.
As campgrounds and glamping businesses continue to compete for guests seeking experiential outdoor stays, industry awards can serve as indicators of operational practices and amenities that resonate with travelers.
The continued success of properties such as Drummohr may provide insight into how operators can combine traditional camping infrastructure with upgraded accommodations and guest services to attract a broader customer base throughout the year.
