Dorset Glamping Park Raises £1,500 for Royal British Legion on VE Day

Back of Beyond, an adults-only camping and glamping park located in Ringwood, Dorset, raised £1,500 for the Royal British Legion during a VE Day fundraiser held in May 2025.

The event, hosted on the park’s 30-acre property, featured a range of themed activities for guests, including a rock-and-roll bingo challenge, games, and quizzes reflecting the wartime era.

One of the highlights of the day included a sing-along session of wartime songs led by park staff member Peter Burns at the on-site bar.

Guests joined in the music as part of the celebration of Victory in Europe Day, which commemorates the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945.

The donations collected during the event were matched by the park’s owners, Martin and Victoria Bowrey, doubling the total contribution to £1,500.

The funds were donated to the Royal British Legion, a UK charity that provides support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, as well as their families and dependents.

“We had a wonderful day, and it further strengthened the close ties we have with our local community, which has been so welcoming to us from the start,” said Victoria Bowrey.

Martin and Victoria Bowrey have owned and operated Back of Beyond since 2013. Over the past 12 years, they have focused on creating a sustainable and nature-oriented retreat for adult guests.

According to a report by Daily Echo, the park has expanded to offer glamping accommodations alongside traditional camping and touring pitches, reflecting ongoing trends in the outdoor hospitality sector.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, this event highlights how themed community engagement initiatives can both support charitable causes and build stronger relationships with guests and local residents.

Events tied to significant historical dates, like VE Day, can provide meaningful opportunities to enhance guest experiences while also aligning with broader social impact goals.
