Craighead Howf Blends Nature Views with Luxurious Glamping in Perthshire

Nestled in the picturesque Perthshire countryside of Scotland, Craighead Howf offers unique glamping experiences near the towns of Dunblane, Stirling, and Perth. The site features two accommodations: The Red Burrow and The Green Burrow, round-door structures integrated into the hillside.

These burrows blend rustic charm with modern comfort. The interiors, crafted from natural stone and wood, create a cozy atmosphere while providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Each burrow is equipped with a double bed, a wood-burning stove, and a kitchenette, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests.

According to its website, the Burrow facilities are traditionally built from stone and wood, featuring nooks and crannies, and are a 200-meter walk from the car park, where guests can use a wheelbarrow to transport their luggage. Nature enthusiasts will also see diverse wildlife at Craighead Howf. Visitors can observe Red Kites soaring overhead and encounter animals on the property.

Each Burrow also includes a handmade rustic double bed with linens and towels, a double-ring gas hob, and hand-carved wooden sinks. The Green Burrow also offers a slipper bath with a handheld shower, while the Red Burrow features a hobbit-style shower.

Guests can also enjoy outdoor dining using the provided barbecue facilities. The area features an experience of eating al fresco while watching the sunset over the Ochils and observing horses in nearby fields. For those looking to explore further, the property serves as a base for discovering the wider Perthshire area, with two acres of grounds and gardens available for strolls.

To enhance their stay, guests are advised to bring slippers for indoor comfort, a torch for nighttime navigation, and a camera to capture the views. Food and drinks should also be packed, including a special bottle for celebrations if desired.

While the round-door burrows are designed as an adult retreat, families can stay in The Muckle Howf, a three-bedroom holiday cottage with a hot tub, during main holiday periods. To protect local wildlife and ensure guest comfort, pets are not permitted at Craighead Howf.

Check-in time is from 3 p.m., with departure by 10 a.m. on the last day. Guests are encouraged to provide an estimated arrival time when booking to help staff prepare for their stay.
