Christie & Co Completes Sale of Vobster Inn and Glamping On The Hill in Somerset

Christie & Co has completed the sale of Vobster Inn and Glamping On The Hill, a mixed-use hospitality business in the village of Vobster near Radstock and Frome in Somerset, England. The transaction was announced by Christie & Co, which managed the sales process.

The 3.7-acre property includes a former inn building that currently operates as a bed-and-breakfast with four letting bedrooms, as well as a small glamping operation consisting of two yurts and two shepherd’s huts. The site also incorporates a three-bedroom residential home.

The previous owners had operated the business since 2005 and decided to sell following their relocation.

The buyer is a local couple from Frome, Somerset, who plan to continue operating and further develop the business. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Sam Roberts of Christie & Co, who oversaw the transaction, said, “We are delighted to have completed on the sale of this versatile holiday business in the quaint village of Vobster. The vast stone building started life as a pub but is now a popular bed-and-breakfast with a bespoke glamping business to complement it.

The opportunity attracted an array of potential buyers, from experienced business owners looking to expand, to ambitious entrepreneurs looking for a unique lifestyle business, and we are thrilled to have completed the sale.”

The property’s evolution from a traditional pub to a hybrid accommodation model reflects broader shifts in rural hospitality, where operators are diversifying revenue streams by combining traditional lodging with glamping units.

For outdoor hospitality professionals, the transaction highlights continued buyer interest in small-scale, lifestyle-oriented assets that blend accommodation types and offer on-site owner housing. The mix of B&B rooms and glamping structures can provide operational flexibility, appealing to different guest segments and potentially extending the booking season.

For owners considering an exit, the sale also underscores the importance of positioning a property as a multi-income business rather than a single-use asset. As rural tourism markets remain competitive, integrated offerings and adaptable site layouts may enhance buyer appeal and support long-term value.
