Caravan and Motorhome Club Takes Over Park Cliffe Under Long-Term Lease

Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate in the Lake District has been taken over under a long-term lease agreement and will now operate as Park Cliffe Windermere Camping and Caravan Park under the management of the Caravan and Motorhome Club

The transition marks the site’s integration into the club’s UK Club Campsite network, expanding its presence in one of England’s most visited outdoor tourism regions.

The park is located approximately three miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, near Bowness-on-Windermere, within the Lake District.

The area continues to attract significant leisure travel demand, particularly among touring caravan owners, motorhome users, campers, roof tenters, and glamping guests. Under its new branding, the site will continue to serve these segments.

Harvey Alexander, chief executive of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, said: “Park Cliffe Windermere Camping and Caravan Park is a fantastic addition to our UK Club Campsite network and a location we know our members and guests will truly value.

“The Lake District remains one of our most popular destinations, and this campsite offers an exceptional setting, high-quality facilities and a strong commitment to sustainability.”

Environmental stewardship has been a feature of the park’s operations, according to The Mail. The site previously received the Gold Conservation Award from the late television botanist David Bellamy in recognition of its wildlife-friendly management practices. The grounds support local wildlife, including squirrels, roe and red deer, foxes, and a range of bird species.

Facilities at the park include a bar and breakfast restaurant, a games room, a retail shop, a children’s playground, private bathrooms available for hire, and park-wide Wi-Fi. The site also offers views across Lake Windermere and the surrounding fells.

Mr. Alexander said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming returning guests and those visiting for the first time and to enabling memorable stays in this iconic part of the country.”

The Caravan and Motorhome Club stated that it continues to expand and strengthen its network in response to member feedback, prioritizing destinations that consistently rank highly among its membership base. The Lake District has regularly been identified as one of the most popular regions for club members.

Park Cliffe’s owners indicated that the Caravan and Motorhome Club was selected due to its established position in the holiday park and campsite sector. The club has said it shares the site’s values, including maintaining high operational standards and protecting the character of the park.

Environmental sustainability will remain central to operations under the new management structure, and the club has indicated it will support the site’s future development as part of its broader network strategy.

Caravan and Motorhome Club members will receive a five percent discount on bookings at the site. Reservations are available through the club’s website.

For outdoor hospitality professionals, the lease arrangement highlights a continuing trend of membership-based organizations expanding through long-term operational agreements rather than outright acquisitions.

Integrating established, independently developed parks into national networks can provide operators with brand alignment, centralized booking systems, marketing reach, and access to a loyal member base, while preserving the core identity and environmental positioning of the property.

In high-demand destinations such as the Lake District, such partnerships may offer a pathway to sustained occupancy and operational stability amid competitive market conditions.
