Caravan and Motorhome Club Expands Accessibility and Inclusion Initiatives Across UK

The Caravan and Motorhome Club has announced a series of developments aimed at improving accessibility and inclusion across its operations, extending from campsite design to staff training.

These initiatives are designed to support members and guests with visible and invisible disabilities while strengthening the Club’s broader commitment to inclusivity within the touring community and workplace.

The Club recently launched an Accessibility Hub on its website, which consolidates information, resources, and member stories into a single, easy-to-navigate platform.

This update follows a detailed review of online content and aims to simplify trip planning for members with access needs.

Additionally, a new Accessibility category has been introduced to the Club’s “Club Together” community forum, fostering ongoing dialogue among members, including neurodivergent families and those with unique accessibility requirements.

On-site improvements continue across the UK, including the expansion of the Accessible pitch trial to the Sandringham Club Campsite.

According to a press release, the Club has also installed new shelving in Accessible bathrooms based on Colostomy UK guidance to improve usability for guests with stoma care needs.

In its glamping division, Experience Freedom, two new Accessible units will be introduced, increasing the number of accessible glamping locations to five.

During Dementia Awareness Week, held from May 25 to 29, 2025, the Club conducted targeted training to help staff recognize and support guests living with dementia. This effort supports the Club’s aim of becoming a Dementia Friendly organization and complements its partnership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative.

In January 2025, the Club also briefed its contact center staff on Relay UK, a national telecommunications service that facilitates communication for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impairments.

The Club is also progressing toward Disability Confident employer status, promoting inclusive recruitment and workplace practices.

Employees involved in the Accessibility Project have undertaken training through the Institute of Leadership and Management, while the Club’s participation in Onvero’s Talent Inclusion and Diversity Evaluation (TIDE) accreditation program has earned it a Bronze Award in 2025.

The Club was also shortlisted in Onvero’s 2025 awards for “Inclusive Culture” and “Wellbeing and Belonging at Work.”

“Accessibility isn’t a one-time project – it’s an ongoing commitment to listening, learning and improving,” said Natasha Shane, Head of Strategic Product Development and Sustainability, and Diversity & Inclusion Champion at the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

“These developments reflect the voices of our members and guests, and the dedication of our teams to make touring more inclusive for all. We’re proud to work with organizations such as Onvero, Sunflower Hidden Disabilities, and Dementia U,K and to be developing experiences that ensure no one is left behind when it comes to exploring the great outdoors.”

In October, the Club will mark Invisible Disabilities Week by highlighting its progress in becoming Dementia Friendly, expanding accessible glamping options, and celebrating its recognition in the Onvero Inclusivity Excellence Awards.

For professionals across the outdoor hospitality sector, these developments reflect the growing importance of accessible infrastructure, staff training, and inclusive design—key factors in attracting diverse markets and ensuring every guest can enjoy a positive experience.
