A temporary camping site is set to open this August at Aber Bay Holiday Park near Aberystwyth, Wales.
The seasonal expansion will offer visitors a new way to experience the Welsh coastline, featuring short-term pitches and supporting amenities for tent campers.
The pop-up camping field will include newly installed showers, washing-up stations, and toilet facilities.
Tent pitches are expected to be priced between £25 and £35 per night. The new offering comes in addition to the park’s existing accommodations, which include caravans, luxury holiday homes, lodges, and newly introduced glamping pods.
Aber Bay Holiday Park is part of the Allens Caravans group and is located at Clarach Bay, approximately 15 minutes from Aberystwyth.
Visitors staying at the pop-up campsite will have access to the park’s full range of amenities, including an indoor heated pool, entertainment programs, a games room, outdoor play area, on-site reception, launderette, shop, restaurant, and bar.
No specific opening date for the temporary camping field has been announced, though Allens Caravans has confirmed that it will be available beginning in August.
According to a report by Out&About Live, James Allen, CEO of Allens Caravans, said:
“With our history of providing holidays for the nation, we have seen many different styles of accommodation, and we know what holidaymakers are looking for when it comes to flexible, modern spaces.”
”We want to give as many options to people, and families, as possible, including the most cost-effective options, which is why we are offering the chance to camp with us this August.”
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, the move highlights a growing trend toward flexibility and seasonal adaptation in response to changing consumer preferences.
Temporary or pop-up offerings allow operators to diversify their product mix and meet demand during peak periods without committing to long-term infrastructure investments.
As competition for holidaymakers continues to grow, particularly in cost-sensitive segments, temporary expansions like these could serve as a strategic approach to boost occupancy and revenue while testing new offerings.
