Xunta Approves Conditional Environmental Clearance for New Ferrol Tourist Camp

Ferrol is set to see the addition of a new tourist camp at A Estiva da Bella following a conditional environmental approval from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The Xunta de Galicia issued a favorable environmental resolution allowing the project to proceed under a series of technical and environmental requirements outlined in the environmental impact report.

The proposed development covers an area of over 8,700 square meters and includes six residential cabins along with two additional facilities for common services.

The Ministry stated that “significant adverse effects on the environment are not foreseeable whenever fixed conditions are met,” meaning the project can move forward as long as the established environmental conditions are respected.

The environmental review process was carried out under a simplified environmental impact assessment, which included public participation.

According to the resolution, no written submissions or objections were received during this process, although ten interested organizations were consulted.

As a result of these consultations, the General Directorate of Environmental Quality and Sustainability added several conditions related to atmospheric protection, waste management, landscape integration, and the preservation of water, soil, and cultural heritage.

The promoter will be required to implement an environmental monitoring program to ensure compliance with preventive and corrective measures throughout the project’s development.

The Ministry emphasized that the report does not replace or exempt the promoter from obtaining additional licenses and authorizations necessary for construction and operation. According to Ferrol360, the official resolution will be published in the Official Gazette of Galicia and made available on the Ministry’s website.

Planned as a sustainable tourism project, the new camp is designed to accommodate up to 16 guests and aims to integrate harmoniously into the natural surroundings of A Estiva da Bella.

The report concludes that “the project would be viable if certain established requirements are met,” highlighting the importance of maintaining environmental and landscape balance during and after development.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality and glamping sectors, this development reflects the growing regulatory emphasis on sustainability and environmental compliance in tourism infrastructure projects across Spain.

The project’s conditional approval underscores the importance of integrating eco-friendly practices and monitoring mechanisms into new developments to meet evolving environmental standards and community expectations.
