European Camping Group Acquires Alannia to Strengthen Presence in Spain

European Camping Group (ECG) has finalized the acquisition of Alannia, Spain’s largest operator of large-scale camping resorts, in a move that significantly expands ECG’s presence in the Spanish market.

Announced in July 2025, the acquisition brings nearly 1,000 accommodation units and 1,600 camping pitches under ECG’s umbrella. With this addition, the group now operates in 13 countries across Europe, covering more than 450 destinations.

Alannia was founded in 1997 by Grupo Marjal and has experienced notable growth in recent years, particularly since partnering with private equity firm Corpfin Capital in 2018.

This partnership led to a fourfold increase in the company’s revenue and helped position Alannia as a prominent brand in Spain’s outdoor hospitality sector.

The company currently runs five resorts, including new developments on the Costa Dorada, and is recognized for delivering contemporary outdoor hospitality experiences.

In a joint statement, ECG’s CEO Sébastien Manceau and CFO Philippe de Trémiolles said:

“The acquisition of Alannia strengthens ECG’s presence in Spain and underscores our real commitment to the Spanish market. We are eager to develop an attractive pipeline of new resorts in collaboration with the Alannia leadership team.”

Fernando Garijo, CEO of Alannia, also expressed optimism about the acquisition.

“The Alannia leadership team is excited about this new chapter with ECG, with whom we share a common set of values. I am confident that this partnership will allow Alannia to continue its successful growth with the added experience and valuable resources of ECG.”

Advisors on the deal included KPMG, which supported ECG on corporate finance, financial, legal, and tax matters, and Garrigues, which served as legal advisor.

Javier Fur, co-founder of Grupo Marjal, commented:

“Today’s announcement is a key step for Grupo Marjal and will support our ongoing growth in other business lines. Our future strategy will focus on leveraging our expertise in high-potential business niches, with the aim of growing and strengthening our organizational structure while continuing to drive innovation, job creation, and sustainable development for all our stakeholders.”

The acquisition aligns with ECG’s broader expansion strategy in Southern Europe, particularly in Spain, where the company sees increasing demand for outdoor hospitality.

The move follows ECG’s acquisition of Vacanceselect in February 2023 and the subsequent additions of three campsites in France—Domaine de Massereau, Yelloh! Village La Clairière, and La Tremblade—under its Marvilla Parks brand.

According to Hospitality ON, ECG has announced two more campsites to be added in 2025, continuing its investment in the French market.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, ECG’s expansion offers insights into the ongoing consolidation trend among European operators and highlights the growing importance of strategic partnerships and acquisitions in scaling operations and responding to market demand.
