The Xunta de Galicia has granted conditional environmental authorization for a proposed tourist accommodation project in Moraime, Muxía.
The development, to be promoted by Cabañas de Muxía S.L., will include six cabins and associated services on a 16,400-square-meter plot in Lourido.
The resolution, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia, indicates that the project has received environmental clearance on the condition that specific requirements are met.
The regional Environment Department stated that no significant adverse environmental effects are expected, provided that these measures are followed. The ministry also noted that no objections or formal comments were filed during the review process.
According to La Voz de Galicia, the development will feature a total built area of approximately 5,400 square meters.
The accommodation is classified as one-star lodging. Prior to construction, the promoter will undertake site preparation that includes clearing the land for access roads, parking areas, and the installation of perimeter fencing, outdoor lighting, and hardwood tree plantings.
The decision represents a continued push in Galicia to support rural and nature-based tourism while maintaining environmental oversight.
Conditional approvals such as this reflect the regional government’s balancing act between encouraging investment in tourism infrastructure and ensuring that new developments meet sustainability criteria.
For business owners and developers in the outdoor hospitality sector, the project serves as an example of the regulatory pathways for small-scale cabin or glamping ventures in Spain.
It highlights the importance of comprehensive environmental review and transparent public consultation processes, both of which can influence project timelines and design requirements.
Understanding how regional authorities weigh environmental impact against economic potential is valuable for those considering similar projects in coastal or protected areas.
If the development proceeds according to plan, the six-cabin site in Lourido could contribute to the diversification of accommodation options in the Muxía area, an increasingly popular destination within Galicia’s coastal tourism market.
