Orbitur Camping Group, Portugal’s largest chain of campsites, has selected Camping.care as its future Property Management System partner as part of a broader effort to advance the digitalization of its operations.
The partnership was announced on January 13 with Camping.care confirming that the agreement will see its cloud-based platform rolled out across Orbitur’s portfolio of sites in Portugal.
Orbitur operates 21 campsites and a range of additional tourism accommodations across the country. Founded in 1960, the group has built its business around camping, caravanning, and outdoor tourism, offering pitches, bungalows, hotels, and holiday flats alongside facilities such as swimming pools, restaurants, retail outlets, and sports amenities.
The company said the decision to partner with Camping.care reflects a focus on improving internal efficiency while supporting a consistent guest experience across multiple locations.
Under the agreement, Orbitur will implement Camping.care’s API-first, cloud-native Property Management System. The platform is designed to centralise core functions such as reservations, channel management, point of sale, and self-service tools.
According to the companies, the goal is to simplify workflows for on-site staff, particularly reception teams, and reduce manual processes that can slow down daily operations.
The partnership is expected to cover several operational areas, including back-office management, online booking, distribution through third-party channels, automation of administrative tasks such as government reporting and accounting, and multisite management across Orbitur’s network.
By using a single system across all locations, Orbitur aims to improve data consistency and visibility at the group level while maintaining flexibility at individual sites.
“We are proud that we have the trust of Orbitur and look forward to the cooperation,” said Roel Masselink, founder of Camping.care. “We already have experience in Portugal, and this strengthens our position in Portugal.”
From Orbitur’s perspective, the project is positioned as part of a longer-term modernisation strategy rather than a short-term technology upgrade. “Choosing Camping.care represents a major step forward in our commitment to modernizing our operations and enhancing the value we offer our guests,” stated Beatriz Santos, Orbitur executive committee.
“The system’s reputation for excellent UX and cloud-native capabilities align perfectly with our goal to build a seamless, digital-first experience for all our visitors.”
Camping.care currently serves more than 700 camping businesses in 16 countries and offers multi-language and multi-currency capabilities, which can be particularly relevant for operators with international guest profiles.
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality, caravan, and RV sectors, the Orbitur decision highlights a wider trend toward group-level digital platforms that can support scale, compliance, and distribution complexity.
As regulatory requirements, online booking expectations, and staffing pressures continue to increase, investments in integrated PMS solutions are becoming a strategic consideration rather than a purely operational one.
