Schaijk Couple Expands B&B with Nature Campsite at Vinkfijn

A year after opening their Bed & Breakfast at Eikenlaan 4 in Schaijk, Hans Vink and Irene Timmermans have expanded their property with the launch of a small-scale nature campsite.

The campsite, named Vinkfijn, became operational in July 2024, marking a continuation of their vision for a modest, nature-focused hospitality business in the North Brabant region.

Vinkfijn offers a minimalist camping experience with eleven tent pitches and four additional pitches designated for hikers, cyclists, and motorcyclists. The campsite is intentionally simple, with no electricity or water at the pitches themselves.

Instead, shared amenities are provided in an on-site outbuilding, including sanitary facilities, a centrifuge, a baby bath, and a communal lounge equipped with a microwave, kettle, freezer, and designated power points for each pitch.

According to Arena Lokaal.nl, campers also have access to picnic tables, benches, bicycle racks, games, picnic blankets, and umbrellas.

“Starting a B&B and mini campsite was our dream at first. When our children left home, the dream became an idea,” said Vink and Timmermans.

The couple has long enjoyed travel and overnight stays at small B&Bs and campgrounds, and saw an opportunity to create a similar environment for others.

Their focus is on simplicity, nature, and hospitality—values they believe align with a growing demand for low-impact travel experiences.

The site was formerly used as a market garden before renovations began in March 2022. The B&B opened to guests on July 1, 2023, and exactly two years after the initial renovation work began, the campsite officially welcomed its first campers.

For owners and operators in the outdoor hospitality sector, Vinkfijn represents a case study in phased expansion and adaptive land use.

By initially launching a B&B and then adding a complementary campground, the business has created diversified revenue streams while maintaining a clear brand identity centered on tranquility and nature.

This kind of incremental development can serve as a model for other small-scale operators looking to grow without overextending their resources.
