Montenegro Maintains Position as One of Europe’s Most Affordable Camping Destinations

Montenegro ranks among Europe’s most competitively priced camping destinations, with the average overnight stay for two adults at 15.58 euros, according to a new survey by Camping.info.

The findings highlight Montenegro’s appeal for campers seeking affordability without sacrificing infrastructure or quality, reinforcing its position in the growing European camping market.

Montenegro’s average price per night, including plot, vehicle, electricity, and taxes, positions the country as more accessible than many European destinations. The survey analyzed prices from more than 23,000 campsites across Europe.

Demand for camping in Europe continues to rise, particularly along the Adriatic coast. Data like this provides Montenegro with a clear competitive advantage in the regional market.

According to an article published by Kamping Asocijacija Crne Gore (Camping Association of Montenegro), compared with countries that have highly developed camping infrastructures, such as Croatia and Slovenia, Montenegro remains significantly more affordable.

Croatia is among the most expensive destinations in Europe, while Slovenia also reports high average campsite prices.

Montenegrin camps report that the lower price point is a key factor in attracting visitors traveling the Adriatic route. Feedback from guests during the summer season confirms that cost differences influence travel decisions.

Although Albania and North Macedonia offer cheaper options, their limited number of campsites and “uneven” infrastructure make Montenegro a more attractive choice for many travelers. Guests perceive a better price-quality ratio, a more stable offer, and greater availability of facilities.

Interestingly, both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia record higher average prices than Montenegro, despite less developed camping markets. This further strengthens Montenegro’s competitive standing.

Camping tourism generates revenue beyond overnight stays. Visitors typically spend on local products, restaurants, excursions, and activities in nature, often visiting multiple destinations during their stay.

The development of Montenegro’s camping sector contributes to local economies and helps extend the tourist season beyond peak months.

Strengthening visibility in the European market remains a priority. This year, Montenegro will participate in the CMT fair in Stuttgart, the continent’s largest event dedicated to camping, caravanning, and travel.

At fairs like CMT, visitors—primarily from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands—can compare Montenegro’s combination of affordable prices and natural advantages against other destinations.

Montenegro’s diverse natural environments, along with an increasingly modern selection of campsites, support continued growth in its camping sector.
