Sassabanek Campsite Report Strong Summer 2025 Despite Weather Challenges

Summer 2025 has brought strong results for Camping Sassabanek on Lake Iseo, despite weather-related challenges earlier in the season.

The site, the largest tourist operation in Sebino, was established through a public-private partnership with the municipality of Iseo as the primary shareholder.

Visitor trends this year have reflected broader shifts in travel behavior. May 2025 saw figures in line with 2024, supported largely by domestic travelers taking advantage of consecutive public holidays.

June brought a marked increase, with attendance doubling compared to the previous year, fueled by hot weather and a rise in international guests, particularly from Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France.

In July, poor weather contributed to a decline in Italian visitors, though bookings from northern European tourists, especially Dutch and German travelers, remained steady. Many of these guests arrived by camper and secured longer stays.

“We cannot complain about the progress of the season,” Sassabanek’s sole director, Guido Foresti, told Il Giorno. “We have exceeded the numbers, already good, of last year. We hope to continue like this.”

The management has also signaled investment plans. “The potential of the campsite and the beach is very high. There is a need to make investments. This year, we have in mind some extraordinary operations that we will define after the political confrontation,” Foresti added.

The site has recorded notable growth, with 8,670 admissions this year compared to 3,118 in 2024.

According to director Manuela Ferrari, visitors now include Italians, as well as tourists from Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Latin America, and Africa.

Facilities available across the site include swimming pools, lifeguard-supervised lake swimming, tennis and basketball courts, pedal boat and SUP rentals, beach volleyball, as well as on-site restaurants and bars.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, Sassabanek’s experience highlights the value of diversification in services and infrastructure to attract both domestic and international markets.

While weather can influence local attendance, demand from long-haul and camper-traveling visitors has helped stabilize performance.

The site’s planned reinvestments also reflect a broader industry trend where public-private partnerships are seeking to balance immediate returns with long-term sustainability in tourism infrastructure.
