A new glamping site has opened in Ballyorgan, County Limerick, catering exclusively to adult visitors seeking a peaceful retreat with modern comforts.
Ballyhoura Glamping, developed by Stephen Hennessy and Elaine Burke, began welcoming guests in June 2025 and features four self-contained pods designed to combine privacy, comfort, and proximity to nature.
Located approximately 50 minutes from Cork City, the site sits on a section of Stephen’s family farm and has been developed with a focus on both hospitality and sustainability.
Each pod offers a range of amenities intended to appeal to adults looking for a restful, tech-enabled stay in the countryside.
Features include a king-size bed, a private shower and toilet, a kitchenette equipped with a hob and air fryer, organic Green Angel wash products, smart TVs, high-speed internet, and a private outdoor area.
The site is fully landscaped and secured, providing an environment tailored for couples, small groups, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Stephen, who has more than two decades of experience as an electrician in the building trade, completed much of the development work himself.
Elaine, a former bespoke cake business owner, applied her hospitality experience and eye for detail to the finishing touches, including pod interiors and guest amenities.
Their combined skill set has shaped the site’s identity, which blends rural charm with hotel-like features.
“Ballyhoura Glamping will be a secluded retreat for adults seeking a touch of luxury in nature’s embrace,” said Elaine Burke in a statement to Yay Cork.
“Perfectly tailored for couples, friends, and nature enthusiasts alike, the serene glamp site will welcome bikers, hikers, group, and anyone yearning for a peaceful escape.”
The site also offers full buyout options for events such as family reunions, corporate retreats, or small celebrations. The surrounding Ballyhoura Mountains region is known for hiking and mountain biking trails, making it an attractive base for adventure tourism.
“From exhilarating hikes to thrilling mountain biking routes, the Ballyhoura Mountains offer endless opportunities for exploration and discovery,” Burke added.
“But it’s not just about the adrenaline-fueled activities; the region also boasts rich cultural heritage, with ancient ruins and historic sites dotting the landscape.”
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, Ballyhoura Glamping reflects a growing demand for adult-only, high-comfort stays in rural areas, especially in regions that offer both natural beauty and outdoor activities.
The couple’s hands-on, owner-built approach and the strategic use of a family farm for development may offer a replicable model for others exploring diversification or expansion into the glamping market.Booking is available via ballyhouraglamping.ie, with nightly rates starting at €175.
