Domes Resorts Expands with Luxury Glamping Site on Athenian Riviera

Domes Resorts, a luxury hospitality brand with properties across Greece, is expanding its footprint with a focus on high-end outdoor accommodations and year-round travel experiences.

The company’s latest addition, Domes 91, opened in 2024 on the Athenian Riviera, roughly 30 minutes from the center of Athens. The project marks a move toward upscale glamping, blending natural surroundings with the amenities and services more commonly associated with boutique hotels.

Domes 91 offers 28 tented accommodations designed by Chadios Architects. The site features landscaped grounds and access to a private beach, along with a spa, fitness center, pools, and sports facilities.

Its design prioritizes a balance between comfort and immersion in nature. The development continues Domes’ approach of combining high design with hyper-local experiences.

As part of the resort’s culinary offerings, Barbarossa—an established Greek restaurant brand—has opened a location on the property, serving modern interpretations of traditional Greek dishes.

In Athens, Domes maintains a presence through its flagship restaurant Makris, located within one of its central hospitality venues. The restaurant, under the leadership of Michelin-starred chef Petros Dimas, emphasizes personal narratives and local sourcing.

“Chef Petros Dimas channels personal history—his grandmother’s kitchen, his own farm-grown vegetables—into a vision of Greek cuisine that’s refined, inventive and entirely his own,” according to an article published by Cool Hunting

His signature dish, Hellenic red mullet served with wild greens and skin-on scales, exemplifies a culinary style that is both modern and rooted in tradition.

Further west, Domes Miramare in Corfu provides another example of the brand’s focus on blending history and contemporary luxury. The resort, once owned by the Onassis family, has hosted figures such as Maria Callas and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Today, it is an adults-only destination featuring beachfront rooms, suites overlooking olive groves, and pavilions with direct sea access.

A newly completed panoramic wing includes a pool and spa, offering an updated experience alongside the site’s legacy appeal. Domes Miramare also houses the original Makris restaurant and several other dining venues.

For outdoor hospitality professionals, Domes Resorts’ model provides an example of how luxury and glamping can intersect in high-demand tourist destinations.

Their operations highlight how combining local culture, curated design, and strong branding can generate appeal for both domestic and international travelers.

Findings from the May 2024 MC Hospitality Highlights report support this emphasis on cultural integration, showing that campgrounds and resorts that offer immersive local experiences, such as culinary events, arts festivals, and historical tours, see increased guest satisfaction, longer stays, and greater brand loyalty.

As interest in nature-based and wellness-oriented travel continues to grow, especially in markets like Greece, where tourism is a key economic driver, Domes’ approach may inform future strategies in both resort development and experiential travel programming.
