Düsseldorf is preparing for a busy weekend as two major events are scheduled to take place from September 5 to 7, 2025.
In addition to the second weekend of the CARAVAN SALON, the world’s largest trade fair for motorhomes, caravans, campervans, and related accessories, the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA will also host a series of concerts, including performances by Ed Sheeran.
The overlapping events are expected to draw substantial crowds from both Germany and abroad, leading to increased traffic in and around the exhibition grounds in the north of Düsseldorf.
Organizers are urging visitors to make travel arrangements in advance to minimize congestion and delays.
“We are looking forward to welcoming numerous caravanning fans from Germany and abroad to Düsseldorf,” said Michael Degen, Executive Director of Messe Düsseldorf.
”At the same time, D.LIVE will also be welcoming many music enthusiasts to the Ed Sheeran concerts on the same weekend. This means a full programme in Düsseldorf – and experience has shown that there will be an increased volume of traffic around the exhibition grounds. This makes it all the more important to plan your journey well.”
One key update for those planning to drive is the requirement for pre-booked parking reservations. Access to the exhibition car parks from Friday to Sunday will only be granted to those with confirmed bookings.
Organizers have advised those without a parking pass to use public transportation, which has been supplemented with additional service lines, extended operating hours, and special routes during the event weekend.
Trade fair visitors should also be aware of potential delays when exiting the exhibition center, particularly in the afternoon and evening, as concertgoers begin to arrive. The CARAVAN SALON team is asking attendees to factor in extra travel time and stay informed about traffic and parking updates.
Public transportation options include the U78 to MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA / Messe Nord, U79 to Messe Ost / Stockumer Kirchstraße, and Bus 722 to Messe Ost or Messe Süd / CCD.
The trip from Düsseldorf Central Station takes approximately 15 minutes. Park & Ride facilities throughout Düsseldorf and the surrounding region are also available at no cost, with different ticket levels (A, B, or C) applying for onward travel depending on the point of departure.
For outdoor hospitality professionals, particularly those attending CARAVAN SALON to explore new products, services, and networking opportunities, it is essential to plan accordingly for the busy weekend.
The high volume of visitors could impact access and schedule efficiency, especially for those coordinating meetings or attending time-sensitive programming.
