Treehouse Stays Highlight Eco-Tourism in Ardèche’s Les Cabanes de Labrousse

Les Cabanes de Labrousse in Ardèche, France, offers travelers a stay in treehouse-style accommodations designed to highlight both nature and sustainability.

The site features nine cabins, each with its own unique height, size, and accessibility, ranging from family-friendly options for up to five guests to adventure cabins that require climbing with harnesses and ropes.

The property emphasizes an eco-responsible approach. All cabins are made of wood by local craftsmen with attention to minimizing impact on surrounding trees and the forest environment.

There is no water, electricity, or heating in the units, and each is equipped with dry toilets. Guests are asked to bring their own bedding, towels, and season-appropriate clothing.

Amenities include breakfast baskets delivered each morning at 8:30 a.m., prepared by hosts Cécile and Stéphane, which can be enjoyed on the terraces overlooking the forest.

Guests can also pre-order the “Panier du Cabaneur,” an evening basket filled with local products, if booked at least 48 hours in advance. A spa facility located on the property provides relaxation experiences in a whirlpool overlooking the forest, offering views of the sunset.

Les Cabanes de Labrousse is positioned within the Ardèche Regional Park, a location that provides access to a variety of outdoor activities.

Visitors can explore hiking trails beginning at the foot of the property, cycle along La Dolce Via located 10 minutes away, or participate in canoeing and kayaking on the L’Eyrieux River.

Additional attractions include the Lamastre velorail, the Eyrium aquatic base, and several castles in the surrounding area.

For operators in the outdoor hospitality and glamping industries, Les Cabanes de Labrousse reflects the growing consumer demand for nature-based, low-impact stays.

The absence of traditional amenities such as electricity or heating is a deliberate choice aligned with the “back-to-basics” travel trend that appeals to both families and adventure-seekers.

Business owners may find value in observing how such properties position themselves by blending authentic outdoor experiences with selective comfort, such as curated food services and spa offerings. This combination enables them to attract a wide audience ranging from couples to families.
