A recent fundraising event at Camping de Montolieu in France brought together approximately 30 participants for an evening dedicated to the national Telethon, a charitable initiative supporting medical research.
The gathering, held as part of the broader Téléthon des Campings campaign organized by the National Federation of Outdoor Accommodation (FNHPA) in partnership with the AFM-Téléthon, featured a community dinner and a solidarity raffle.
Campers, tourists, and local residents participated in the event, which took place in July. The evening meal consisted of paella prepared on site, followed by a raffle that offered a basket of local products as a prize.
The event was hosted by campsite owners Pauline and Grégoire, who emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration in achieving their fundraising goals.
“In 2024, we managed to collect €880. This year, we hope to go even further thanks to you,” said Pauline at the start of the evening. The couple also expressed appreciation to local supporters, including Fred and Marion from Domaine Fon Rosière, who have been involved with the initiative since the previous year.
According to a report by La Dépêche, the next meal and fundraising event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, at the same campsite.
These events highlight how outdoor hospitality providers can integrate social impact initiatives into their business models, strengthening relationships with guests and the broader community.
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, this model of community-based philanthropy presents an example of how to increase off-season engagement, enhance brand identity, and align with local causes.
Hosting events like these can diversify visitor experiences while reinforcing the campground’s role as a community hub. Additionally, such initiatives can generate positive publicity and foster repeat visitation among socially conscious travelers.
The Montolieu campsite’s approach reflects a broader trend of campsites and outdoor resorts contributing to civic causes while promoting regional culture and products, helping to bridge tourism and social responsibility in meaningful ways.
Recent industry insights reinforce the benefits of campground-hosted events like Montolieu’s Telethon dinner.
According to the February 2024 edition of the MC Hospitality Highlights report, special gatherings can strengthen community ties, increase seasonal appeal, and draw in new visitors.
The report highlights that campers are increasingly seeking destinations that accommodate celebrations and shared experiences, particularly around holidays and cultural events.
By using existing facilities, collaborating with local partners, and focusing on simple but meaningful activities, campground owners can implement cost-effective strategies that enhance guest satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
