The second day of the 46th edition of SETT, the European trade fair for professionals in outdoor hospitality, began on Tuesday, November 4, with the official opening of the exhibition.
Industry professionals gathered at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier (France) to explore new trends, products, and services shaping the future of the sector. The atmosphere reflected both excitement and determination, as stakeholders from across Europe reconnected to exchange insights and innovations for the coming tourism season.
The highlight of the morning was the official opening ceremony of the 46th edition of SETT, held at Accueil A.
The ceremony gathered leaders from national and regional federations, such as Philippe Robert, president of Occitanie Outdoor Hospitality Federation (FHPA Oc); Nicolas Dayot, president of the Fédération Nationale de l’Hôtellerie de Plein Air (FNHPA); and Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region.
Numerous professionals and partners from across France and beyond were also present. Attendees filled the venue, underscoring the fair’s growing influence as a central meeting point for the European outdoor hospitality community.
Welcome remarks opened the ceremony, extending appreciation to participants and emphasizing the importance of unity, innovation, and resilience in the industry. The message acknowledged the record number of attendees and reflected on how the fair continues to evolve alongside the sector it represents.
Speakers noted that the outdoor hospitality industry is undergoing a significant transition, shaped by digitalization, changing customer expectations, and a stronger focus on human-centered service. The remarks highlighted that while technology continues to transform operations, the essence of hospitality remains rooted in connection, experience, and care.

The speeches also reflected a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration among federations and stakeholders. The emphasis was placed on working together to address the evolving challenges of the tourism landscape—from administrative and financial operations to the collective responsibility of shaping a sustainable future for outdoor hospitality.
Another part of the ceremony celebrated tourism as a key driver of regional vitality and identity. The message underlined that hospitality is not only an economic force but also a way of life, sustaining villages, supporting local businesses, and preserving cultural heritage. Hotels, restaurants, and campgrounds were described as “places of memory” that bring meaning to the word hospitality.
Speakers further emphasized the importance of sustainable and human-scale tourism that respects local environments and communities. They called for a continued focus on regional unity, the promotion of local products, and the strengthening of ties between entrepreneurs, territories, and visitors.

The ceremony also addressed pressing challenges facing the sector, including climate change and its growing impact on destinations across the region. Attendees were reminded of the need to adapt collectively, investing in energy-efficient infrastructure and sustainable operations to ensure the longevity of outdoor hospitality.
