Construction has officially begun on the Dunes Beach Resort, a new luxury coastal retreat in Quinns Rocks, following the handover of the foreshore site by the City of Wanneroo to Eco Tourism Pty Ltd.

The project, located on the site of the former Quinns Rocks caravan park, is scheduled to open by mid-April 2026 and is positioned as a venue for weddings, events, and short-stay glamping accommodation.

The resort will include 38 glamping tents with ensuite bathrooms, accommodating up to 86 guests. It will also feature a restaurant and café designed to host up to 240 people for functions and events.

Public amenities integrated into the project include improved beach access, picnic tables, public bike racks, and community use of the café, restaurant, lawn, and function areas. The development will also provide a reception building and a car park with 80 bays.

The caravan park that previously occupied the site was demolished in 2014, and the land remained largely unused, serving as an overflow car park for several years.

Discussions about the site’s future began in 2012, with a business case in 2020 identifying an eco retreat as a suitable redevelopment option.

In August 2023, following community consultation, the City of Wanneroo council voted to pursue a development focused on ecotourism, hospitality, and event space.

According to PerthNow, Wanneroo mayor Linda Aitken said the project was expected to contribute positively to the local economy and community access.

“The development of the Dunes Beach Resort will generate employment opportunities for our residents, boost the local economy, and assist with the development of our city as a sustainable tourism destination,” she said. She also noted the inclusion of public-facing features that would benefit residents.

Eco Tourism Pty Ltd director Russell Percival said the resort was the first of a planned national concept and expressed appreciation for local government support.

“After three-and-a-half years, it is great to see our vision and dream start to evolve, and we look forward to providing an amazing resort and facilities for everyone to enjoy,” he said.

For outdoor hospitality operators, this project illustrates how local governments may increasingly favour eco-conscious redevelopment of former caravan park sites into mixed-use tourism infrastructure.

The integration of glamping accommodation with event and dining spaces also reflects a broader industry trend toward multipurpose, experience-focused destinations.

Business owners considering site expansion or diversification may find value in monitoring this model, particularly in areas with disused or underutilized land and growing interest in coastal tourism.
