Baja Expeditions has introduced its upgraded San Ignacio Glamping & Luxury Camp in San Ignacio Lagoon, opening booking opportunities for operators and travel agents for the January to April 2026 and 2027 grey whale migration seasons.
The camp is positioned on the shoreline of the San Ignacio Lagoon within the Vizcaíno Desert, a UNESCO National Park and Biosphere Reserve, and serves as a seasonal base for viewing the annual migration under the supervision of marine biologists.
The company has expanded the camp into three separate pop-up desert villages, each equipped with its own kitchen, dining tent and bar. Each village can accommodate up to 26 travellers.
Lodging options now include a mix of glamping tents and luxury units, the latter featuring ensuite bathrooms, hot showers and full-sized beds with premium linens. Family tents offer additional space and bunk beds, and solo travellers can choose between private or shared arrangements.
“We’re thrilled to share the news of our newly upgraded camp,” Mike Lever, managing director of Baja Expeditions, told TravelDailyNews.
“Our goal has always been to deliver extraordinary wildlife experiences that balance comfort, sustainability and genuine connection with nature, and the new San Ignacio Camp truly embodies that.”
In addition to whale-watching experiences, travellers can participate in a range of activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, cycling, guided hikes with naturalists, turtle conservation efforts, birdwatching, stargazing and spa services.
Extended coastal itineraries are also available, offering opportunities to encounter whale sharks, orcas, mobula rays, sea lions and other marine species.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the project highlights continued demand for seasonal wildlife-focused accommodations that offer comfort while maintaining low-impact design.
The use of pop-up villages, modular layouts and flexible accommodation types may provide a model for operators seeking to expand capacity or diversify guest experiences without long-term structural development.
The emphasis on partnerships with naturalists and conservation-driven programming also reflects a growing trend toward educational and ecotourism-oriented guest offerings.
