Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores in Port Colborne, Ontario, has been named Canada’s top campground in the 2026 Campspot Awards, recognizing the resort’s family-focused amenities and waterfront attractions.
The award highlights parks that deliver consistent guest satisfaction across North America’s largest campground marketplace.
Campspot, a campground booking platform, announced the winners of its annual awards program, now in its fifth year.
The recognition reflects analysis of more than 3.3 million data points, including guest ratings, reservation trends, park features, quality of online listings, and category-specific rankings. The awards are intended to help campers identify high-performing destinations and acknowledge the teams behind them.
According to a press release, Jeff Bettin, general manager of Marketplace at Campspot, said, “Campgrounds are more than places to stay. They’re places where memories get made, traditions start, and community shows up. The Campspot Awards are our way of recognizing parks that consistently deliver standout guest experiences, backed by data, and celebrating the people who make those experiences happen.”
Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores spans 560 acres of landscaped grounds along 4 kilometers of Lake Erie beachfront.
The resort offers RV and tent sites as well as private cottages, complemented by a private beach, water park, restaurants, and multiple sports courts. Guests have access to the resort’s FunPlex Passes, unlimited miniature golf, and fitness amenities.
Visitors can enjoy kayaking, fishing, volleyball, and pickleball, or relax at the outdoor pool and patio dining areas. All amenities and facilities are exclusive to registered guests, including campers, seasonal RVers, and vacation cottage renters.
The campground is located approximately 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area and 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York, making it accessible for short family getaways or extended vacations.
Campspot noted that the 2026 winners reflect the evolving ways people camp, emphasizing experiences that foster reconnection and shared activities.
Parks recognized in the awards span family resorts, glamping destinations, and unique camping locations with community-focused programming.
“The Campspot Awards are our way of recognizing parks that consistently deliver standout guest experiences, backed by data, and celebrating the people who make those experiences happen,” Bettin added.
The Campspot Awards program continues to shape traveler decisions by spotlighting top-performing campgrounds in both the United States and Canada, promoting destinations that combine amenities, accessibility, and engaging activities for families and vacationers.
