Solstice Ridge Glamping, a new outdoor hospitality business in Halton Hills, Ontario, officially opened its doors in July, bringing a luxury-focused, nature-based accommodation option to the area.
The project is the result of several years of planning by Amber Durante, who transformed a portion of her family’s Third Line farm into a secluded glamping retreat.
The development features two furnished canvas tents outfitted with king-sized beds, electric heaters, coffee makers, and private barbecues, offering guests an alternative to traditional camping.
Durante’s concept was shaped by both personal health challenges and positive past experiences with glamping. After suffering from cluster headaches, she began reevaluating her career and lifestyle.
A marriage proposal at Caledon’s Alabaster Acres—a well-known glamping destination—further influenced her vision for what an ideal nature retreat could be. “I like the idea of glamping,” she told MiltonToday. “Not everyone loves camping, but it’s a middle ground.”
Solstice Ridge is located near the Scotch Block Reservoir and is surrounded by rolling countryside and wildlife such as deer, eagles, and coyotes.
The site promotes a low-impact, unplugged experience and offers guests a range of amenities, including breakfast and dinner kits, firepits with toasting snacks, birdwatching guides, and bicycles for exploring the surrounding area.
Durante has partnered with nearby attractions like Chudleigh’s and Andrews Farm Market and Winery to offer guests local experiences, including wine tastings.
The property’s natural setting is another key draw. “We don’t have a lot of light population, so you can see a lot of stars out here, and a lot of beautiful wildlife,” said Durante.
She has emphasized maintaining a small, intimate scale for Solstice Ridge while considering future growth. “So people get the true nature, forest-bathing experience. It’s been wonderful so far.”
For outdoor hospitality professionals, Solstice Ridge offers a case study in how small-scale, thoughtfully designed glamping accommodations can attract attention through partnerships, influencer marketing, and experiential elements tied to local natural and cultural heritage.
The business also illustrates how personal narrative and location-specific assets—like dark skies and regional history—can be leveraged to differentiate a new glamping offering in a competitive market.
