Ontario’s Howeholm Farm Taps Into Eco-Friendly Travel Market

Howeholm Farm, located near Aylmer, Ontario, has added two outdoor lodging options designed to attract travelers seeking simple nature-based stays close to local attractions.

The property, which features farm fields and wetlands surrounded by wooded edges, is situated near the Springwater Conservation Area, a large natural reserve popular for hiking, birdwatching, and fishing.

The farm’s accommodations include a tent and RV site as well as a small cabin known as the Red Roof Cabin. Both are positioned near wetlands, offering guests access to quiet surroundings and natural scenery while remaining within driving distance of nearby amenities.

A seasonal farm market operates 1.3 kilometers from the property, and the local town of Aylmer and Port Bruce Beach are each within a short drive.

The Howeholm tent site accommodates up to six guests and is suitable for pop-up campers and campervans under six meters. It offers a flat, grassy surface with a pull-in layout and allows generators.

Campers must provide their own toilets, as there are no hookups for electricity, water, or sewage. The site features a fire pit and picnic table, but does not allow pets.

The Red Roof Cabin, which sleeps four, provides a basic setup with an outhouse, cooking equipment, a BBQ, and a propane stove. The cabin is located near a dead-end road and can be accessed directly by vehicle in dry conditions.

Pets are welcome, and the property includes a catch-and-release fishing pond. Campfires are permitted, and the flat farmland setting offers open views and close proximity to outdoor recreation areas.

For outdoor hospitality operators, Howeholm Farm’s model reflects a growing interest in minimal-impact lodging options that balance simplicity with access to nature.

By offering self-contained, no-hookup stays close to attractions like Springwater Conservation Area and Port Bruce Beach, the site demonstrates how small-scale rural properties can diversify farm income while meeting traveler demand for off-grid, eco-friendly experiences.
