Trout Point Lodge Sets Benchmark for Sustainable Luxury in Nova Scotia

Trout Point Lodge in Nova Scotia has built a reputation as both a wilderness retreat and a recognized leader in sustainable tourism.

Located in the Tobeatic Wilderness, about 40 minutes from Yarmouth and three hours from Halifax, the lodge combines outdoor recreation, culinary programming, and luxury accommodations while pursuing eco-friendly practices that have earned it international recognition.

The lodge operates on a 100-acre wooded property bordering the Tusket and Napier rivers. Guests can take part in activities such as canoeing, kayaking, hiking, yoga, forest bathing, and guided stargazing, with no cell phone coverage in the area.

The lodge also provides electric vehicle charging stations, including a Tesla-specific unit. Accommodations include rooms and suites with river views, and dining centers on a daily-changing four-course chef’s menu sourced from local ingredients.

Trout Point has received a five-star rating from Canada Select and a Five Green Key designation from Green Key Global. The latter rating is given to hotels that demonstrate high standards of environmental and social responsibility across all operations.

The lodge’s practices include using renewable resources, minimizing reliance on non-renewable energy, and supporting the local economy through procurement and hiring.

It has also been recognized internationally by the National Geographic Society, Scientific American, and USA Today, among others.
