Canadians eager to soak up the outdoors this summer will have plenty of reasons to hit the trails, lakes, and historic landmarks across the country.
From June 20 to September 2, Parks Canada is waiving admission fees for all 37 national parks it operates, offering free entry to all visitors regardless of nationality, according to an article by Daily Hive.
This includes access to national historic sites and national marine conservation areas managed by the agency, as well as free lockage at canals along historic waterways.
No entry passes or advance tickets are required—visitors can simply show up and enjoy their favourite national parks.
However, the offer does not apply to provincial or territorial parks, Sépaq parks in Québec, municipal and private parks, or any sites not operated directly by Parks Canada or operated by third parties.
It’s important to note that certain experiences and services are not covered by the free admission.
These include camping and other overnight accommodations, reservations, the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs, mooring, guided programs not usually included with admission, services provided by third parties, fishing licences, firewood, parking, and special permits such as those for drone use or research.
Campers still have something to look forward to, as Parks Canada is offering a 25% discount on fees for overnight stays within the same period.
This summer-long initiative is part of the newly launched Canada Strong Pass, a federal government program designed to boost domestic tourism.
Other benefits of the pass include free admission to national museums, free VIA Rail travel for children 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, and a 50% discount at select museums and galleries for young adults aged 18 to 24.
With national parks becoming more accessible than ever, it opens up new opportunities for RVers and outdoor enthusiasts to deepen their connection with Canada’s natural beauty.
