For owners, operators, team members, and anyone else interested in camping, glamping, or the RV industry.

Family-Run Meanwhile Farm Blends Agritourism and Camping Near Newmarket

Located just outside Newmarket, Ontario, Meanwhile Farm is a family-run blueberry farm offering small-scale camping experiences that blend farm life with outdoor recreation. The property features three grass campsites for tents or pop-up trailers, as well as RV parking on the front lawn.

The farm’s amenities include an outdoor shower, bathroom facilities, a communal firepit, and walking trails along the perimeter. Guests can also interact with farm animals, including donkeys, goats, chickens, ducks, and fish.

According to the property description, the three sites vary in size and proximity to amenities. Site 1 is the smallest and situated nearest to the washrooms, communal firepit, and shower facilities, although it may occasionally be closed during the season for farm operations.

Site 2, described as the flattest and suitable for two tents, is known for frequent visits from wild turkeys and includes a picnic table and access to a flush toilet.

Site 3 is the most spacious and private area, located at the southern end of the property, where deer and turkeys are often spotted. Each site allows campfires and provides potable water, though pets are not permitted.

Visitors to the farm have noted the relaxed setting and hands-on experiences available to campers. “I went camping at Site T2 at Meanwhile Farm with my friends, and we had a fantastic time!” said guest Ravi P.

“We were pleasantly surprised to find that blueberry picking was available right there on the property, which added a really fun, fresh-air activity to our stay. Scott was wonderful—super friendly and full of helpful details.”

Another camper, Annie S., shared similar feedback: “My family loved camping at Scott’s farm! It’s very beautiful and well-maintained. My children loved feeding and patting the animals. Scott is really caring and takes care of his campers and makes sure they are comfortable.”

For operators in the outdoor hospitality sector, Meanwhile Farm represents a growing niche in agritourism where working farms diversify their income by offering limited-scale camping opportunities.

This approach not only provides guests with unique, nature-based experiences but also strengthens local tourism by connecting visitors to regional food production and rural lifestyles.

As travelers increasingly seek authentic and educational getaways close to urban centers, farms like Meanwhile may point to future opportunities for small landowners to participate in the outdoor hospitality market.
