Don’t Miss Out: BCLCA Auction for Care Camps Runs Until Sunday Night

The BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association’s (BCLA) annual online auction will close this Sunday (June 22), marking the final days for bidders to help raise funds for Care Camps Foundation (Canada), which sends children with cancer to specialized oncology camps.

Launched on May 15, the auction has so far collected CA$6,852 toward its CA$7,000 goal, with proceeds supporting camp experiences that allow children to take a break from cancer treatments.

“The experience allows kids to forget about the chemo, the radiation, and all the hard stuff that comes with cancer… and just be a child again,” the announcement indicates. “The camp experience equips them with the skills necessary to meet the challenges they will face while fighting their disease.”

According to its website, in 2024, 16 camps funded by Care Camps (Canada) welcomed more than 7,600 children and family members, providing a summer experience filled with joy, hope, and meaningful connections that have a lasting impact.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our Canadian partners and invite you to join them in supporting our mission. All Canadian funds raised, benefit the camps in Canada,” Care Camps indicates.

Featured items in the auction include 10″ QUICK-FIRE Striker kits, a 90-minute Sea Vancouver “City & Nature” tour, and a certificate from Woodbury Resort & Marina for a three-hour boat rental on Kootenay Lake.

Also available is a certificate for a three-night, four-day stay in a premium RV site at Peachland RV Park, conveniently located just minutes from the beaches of Peachland and West Kelowna.

BCLCA, a not-for-profit trade group founded in 1944, represents independently owned and operated small and mid-size lodging and campground businesses across British Columbia.

The association is governed by a Board of Directors, composed of volunteers who are elected bi-annually from the membership of the BCLA.

BCLA provides a range of support to its members, including consumer marketing and promotions through online and print channels, negotiating group purchasing discounts with industry suppliers, and working alongside other industry associations to address regulatory concerns at all levels of government.

The association also promotes service excellence in hospitality, commissions primary market research, and encourages good business practices through education and adherence to industry standards.
