The Canadian Camping and RV Association (CCRVA) is set to host its 9th annual Canadian RV and Camping Week from May 21 to 26. The event will span nationwide, highlighting the substantial contributions of the camping and RVing sectors to the Canadian economy and the well-being of outdoor enthusiasts.
This year’s celebration aims to draw campers to various participating campgrounds across Canada, which will offer a range of activities and promotions. Discounted camping fees, along with special events such as cook-offs and bingo nights, are designed to enhance the camping experience for attendees.
Cara Csizmadia, president of the CCRVA, emphasized the event’s dual focus on recreation and charity. “One of the highlights of this event is the opportunity for campers to support a worthy cause while enjoying their favourite pastime,” Csizmadia said. She noted that many campgrounds will participate in fundraising efforts for Care Camps, which provide enriching experiences for children with cancer across Canada.
The support from provincial governments has been strong, with Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia officially declaring May 21-26 as Canadian RV and Camping Week. These proclamations recognize the camping and RV industry’s importance to the Canadian economy and its societal benefits.
Reflecting on the industry’s scale, Csizmadia shared significant statistics from recent years. Canadian campers took 7.7 million RV trips in 2022, with RV owners reporting that over three-quarters of their RV trips are to a campground,” she explained. The combination of RVing and camping generated approximately 141,400 jobs and delivered CA$16.2 billion in added value to the Canadian economy from an initial expenditure of CA$19.8 billion in 2022.
The CCRVA president reiterated the event’s role in bringing communities together and serving as a platform for advocacy and media engagement. We are excited to once again celebrate the joys of camping and RVing during Canadian RV and Camping Week,” Csizmadia said. She emphasized that the event showcases the positive impact of the industry.
As the event approaches, campgrounds across the nation are preparing to welcome thousands of participants eager to explore the great outdoors while contributing to a noble cause. The Canadian RV and Camping Week not only fosters a sense of community among outdoor enthusiasts but also highlights the enduring appeal and importance of the camping and RVing lifestyle in Canada.
