Canadian RV and Camping Week Kicks Off

The 9th Annual Canadian RV and Camping Week officially started on May 21, marking the beginning of the camping season in Canada. From May 21 to May 26, the event organized by the Canadian Camping and RV Association (CCRVA) celebrates the camping and RV lifestyle.

Official proclamations have been issued in Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, recognizing the significant contributions of the camping and RV industry. These proclamations emphasize the industry’s role in supporting jobs, boosting the economy, and enhancing the well-being of individuals and families.

Cara Csizmadia, president of the Canadian Camping and RV Association (CCRVA), expressed excitement about the participation and enthusiasm for Canadian RV and Camping Week. “This event not only brings communities together but also underscores the importance of camping and RVing to the Canadian way of life,” Csizmadia said.

A notable feature of this week is its charitable component. Many campgrounds across Canada are participating in fundraising efforts for Care Camps, an initiative that supports children with cancer. These efforts allow children to experience the joys of camping. Campgrounds nationwide also offer various unique events and activities to enhance the camping experience. These activities foster community and shared enjoyment.

Another important aspect of Canadian RV and Camping Week is the promotion of the Camper’s Code, which encourages responsible and respectful camping practices. This code emphasizes actions such as respecting wildlife, properly disposing of waste, and leaving no trace. More than 2,500 Canadians have pledged to uphold these values, contributing to the preservation of natural spaces.

As the early spring RVing and camping season begins, several essential lifestyle tips can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. It is crucial to verify that all RV and camping equipment is in good working order, including testing appliances, checking tire pressure, and inspecting safety gear. Preparing for unpredictable weather by packing layers, waterproof clothing, and extra blankets is vital for staying warm and dry during the trip. Additionally, familiarizing with the campground’s safety protocols, keeping a first-aid kit handy, and knowing the location of the nearest medical facilities are necessary steps for maintaining safety while camping.
