Canada Strong Pass Launches to Boost Domestic Tourism

Canadians planning to explore their own country this summer can take advantage of the new Canada Strong Pass, which offers free or discounted access to national parks, campsites, museums, and rail travel from June 20 to September 2.

The federal initiative aims to encourage domestic travel while delivering an economic lift to Canada’s tourism industry, which includes more than 240,000 tourism businesses and nearly two million jobs.

A spokesperson with the Office of the Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism told The Laker News that the pass is intended to make it easier for Canadians to experience the country’s natural and cultural attractions.

“This summer, the Canada Strong Pass gives Canadians free or discounted access to national parks, museums, and campsites, which are some of the most beautiful places in the world,” the spokesperson said.

Parks Canada sites will offer free admission and a 25% discount on camping fees, creating more incentive for extended stays.

The pass also includes free admission for children and discounted rates for young adults at national museums and select provincial and territorial galleries, as well as free train travel for children and discounted fares for young adults on VIA Rail.

The spokesperson said the Canada Strong Pass supports local economies by encouraging families to spend more time and money in communities across the country.

“Every park visit, train ride, or museum stop helps fuel local businesses and jobs. We want Canadians to spend time together, support each other’s communities, and make this summer one to remember,” the spokesperson noted.

Families in Nova Scotia can benefit from free access to Kejimkujik National Park or take in the views along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

“Ultimately, the Canada Strong Pass encourages Canadians to choose Canada, to explore it, celebrate it, and support the communities that make it so special,” the spokesperson added.
