Wycliffe Park Campground Officially Opens for First Season in East Kootenay

Wycliffe Park Campground, a new 20-site facility operated by the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK), officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking its first season of operation.

According to an article published by Cranbrook Daily Townsman on July 24, the campground, located in British Columbia, will be open annually from mid-May through September, with reservations available online.

The July 23 event drew elected officials, RDEK staff, and contractors.

Reservations for the campground opened earlier this spring and have received significant interest throughout the summer months.

RDEK has introduced 20 new unserviced seasonal campsites at Wycliffe Regional Park, enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities in the region. Located at 1200 Perry Creek Road, the 164-hectare park is one of the largest amenities managed by the RDEK and is popular for its natural beauty and recreational offerings.

The new campground aims to increase local camping capacity, offer more choice to visitors, and maintain the park’s reputation for providing exceptional outdoor experiences.

The sites are divided into two categories to accommodate different types of campers. Twelve sites are designed for tents or smaller trailers with a maximum trailer length of 18 feet, while the remaining eight can host trailers up to 32 feet long.

The campground will be open annually from mid-May through September, aligning with the region’s peak camping season.

Wycliffe Regional Park offers a wide range of amenities, including hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, ball fields, outhouses, potable water, and fire pits.

A notable feature of the park is its top-rated 18-hole disc golf course. These amenities make the park an attractive destination for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and group campers alike.

Campsites are limited to a maximum of eight people, including up to four individuals aged 16 or older and up to four children aged 15 and under.

Each site may accommodate one vehicle plus one trailer or RV, with additional parking available at Picnic Site #3. Tents are permitted in addition to a trailer or RV, providing flexibility for camping groups.

Pet owners should also keep their dogs on a leash at all times and ensure they do not roam off-leash or cause disturbances.
