British Columbia has officially declared June as RVing and Camping Month, a province-wide initiative to promote outdoor recreation, economic growth, and family well-being.
The annual campaign, led by the Canadian Camping and RV Association and supported by the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA), aims to spotlight the contributions of the camping sector across the province.
The proclamation, endorsed by the Province of British Columbia, encourages residents and visitors to take part in camping activities throughout June.
“Summer is calling — and there’s no better way to answer than by pitching a tent or hitting the open road in your RV,” the campaign announcement reads.
British Columbia is home to more than 2,200 campgrounds and over 52,000 campsites, offering a wide range of experiences from remote wilderness locations to full-service RV resorts. The diversity and accessibility of camping options make the province a leading destination for outdoor tourism.
Beyond recreation, the sector plays a vital role in the provincial economy.
According to organizers, camping and RVing generate CA $2.1 billion in economic impact annually and support 19,000 jobs.
“Camping is more than just a vacation or a trip — it’s an investment in local economies and small businesses across the province,” organizers stated.
As part of the month-long celebration, BCLCA is encouraging campers to participate in charitable giving through its support of the Care Camps Foundation (Canada). The organization helps fund nature-based programs and oncology camps for children living with cancer and their families.
The association is also hosting its 2025 Online Auction through June 22. Items up for bid include glamping packages, cabin stays, gift certificates, and more, with proceeds directed to the Care Camps Foundation.
For those looking to plan a camping trip, BCLCA recommends visiting www.campingrvbc.com to discover top locations and map out itineraries. Campers across the rest of the country can search sites through gorving.ca/campgrounds.
