Peace Island Park to Open April 25, Set to Host Major Summer Events

Peace Island Park in Taylor, British Columbia, is scheduled to open for the 2025 season on April 25, with preparations already underway to accommodate guests and upcoming events.

The municipality announced the date via social media, also confirming that camping reservations are currently open for booking.

The site is expected to serve as a host venue for a number of large-scale events throughout the summer, including the 2025 World Jet Boat Championships, the annual River Rat Poker Rally, and the World’s Invitational Gold Panning Championship.

These events are anticipated to bring a significant influx of visitors to the area, presenting potential opportunities and logistical considerations for operators in the surrounding outdoor hospitality sector.

While full access to the park is not yet available, select amenities have reopened. “At this time, playgrounds, walking trails, and the boat launch are open to public usage,” the announcement stated.

“However, vehicle access to pavilion gates, the island, and ATV [all-terrain vehicle] sites are prohibited in order to ensure ample time for the ground to solidify from spring thaw prior to our opening weekend.”

Staff are currently on-site, maintaining restricted areas and ensuring that the park is prepared for its first round of campers later this month.

This early activity provides a window of opportunity for nearby park operators and tourism-focused businesses to align their offerings with anticipated traffic driven by the park’s events and increased visitation.

For businesses in the outdoor hospitality industry, Peace Island Park’s season launch and its roster of planned events may provide a ripple effect of economic activity, particularly in accommodation and ancillary services.

From food vendors to equipment rental providers and guided tour operators, there is potential to capitalize on visitor demand both on-site and in the surrounding region.

Camping rates at Peace Island Park range from $22 to $44 per night, with bookings available online, according to a report by Energetic City.

Operators in the region may want to monitor booking trends at the park to anticipate guest overflow or increased demand for local alternatives during peak event dates.
