Mara Lake RV Park & Campground Launches Full Operations at Sicamous Houseboats

A new year-round campground has officially launched at Sicamous Houseboats, offering guests a lakefront retreat complete with serviced RV sites, tiny cabins, and unbeatable sunset views over Mara Lake.

According to an article by Eagle Valley News, The Mara Lake RV Park & Campground, located just off Two Mile Road across from the houseboat yard, is now in its first full year of operation after permitting delays pushed back its initial opening.

Owned and operated by Barb Scott—who also runs the houseboat company—the campground is part of a phased development that currently features 35 fully serviced sites, with plans to expand that number to nearly 50.

Guests can also enjoy a growing lineup of accommodations, including brand-new tiny cabins, with two already installed and ready for guests.

Scott affectionately refers to the cabins as “pods.” She described them as compact, RV-style units that offer the essentials: a bed and toilet inside, an outdoor shower to the side, and a kitchen setup on a lakeview deck.

“The whole front of the building is glass, so they have nice views of the lake,” she said. “We’ve got the best sunset views because we face west. So we’ve got the most beautiful sunsets at our campground,” Barb added.

While the cabins are perched on the hill, campers still enjoy full lake access via a newly developed beach park at the former houseboat operations site.

This family- and pet-friendly area now includes a lawn, boardwalk, and sandy beach, offering guests an ideal spot to relax by the water.

Boat slips and trailer parking are also available, allowing visitors to launch directly into the lake from their “home away from home.”

Adding to the on-site convenience is the debut of S.O.S—Sausages of Sicamous—a food truck that serves beach-friendly fare to campers, boaters, and visitors.

Scott’s approach ensures all essentials are within easy reach, blending traditional camping comforts with a vacation-ready atmosphere.

The campground also remains closely connected to the houseboat fleet, allowing guests to experience both land-based and water-based vacations in one location.

Built for year-round use, the park is well-positioned to draw outdoor adventurers even in the colder months.

“We’re hoping that sledders will come stay with us because there’s really great access to all the sledding trails right above us at Two Mile,” said Scott, noting plans to partner with Sled Sicamous to offer on-site trail pass sales.

In addition to accommodations, the campground has embraced a community spirit with events such as a free concert that kicked off the season in May.

Scott is now planning to close out the summer with a pirate-themed event in partnership with Shuswap Marine Search and Rescue, aiming to create a fun, charity-focused gathering for both guests and locals.

“I do it for my crew anyway… we definitely go all out, and I invite members of the community,” she said.

“So I started thinking about how I could turn that into a double good; something fun for us, but also something that can benefit a charity. And search and rescue’s just so important to the lake,” she added
