British Columbia’s REO Resort Combines Whitewater, Glamping, and Yoga Experiences

REO Rafting & Yoga Resort in British Columbia is preparing to welcome guests in 2025 with a range of outdoor activities and glamping accommodations along the Nahatlatch River.

The resort, founded in 1983 by rafting guide Bryan Fogelman, combines whitewater rafting, yoga, and nature-based experiences in a remote setting roughly two and a half hours from Vancouver and four hours from Seattle.

Guests at the resort can participate in guided rafting trips, yoga classes, kayaking, and hiking, alongside amenities such as a hot tub, private beach, nature trails, and riverside dining.

Accommodations feature glamping tents styled by local decorators, each situated above the river. The site also offers daily meals, including plant-based options, as well as opportunities for campfires, stargazing, and family-friendly recreation.

Fogelman began rafting on the Nahatlatch in 1982 and later purchased property along the river to develop the retreat.

Over time, the resort grew into a family-run operation involving his wife, Karen, and their three children. The family remains involved in daily operations, maintaining what they describe as a private and secluded environment.

Over four decades of operation, REO has been recognized with multiple awards, including TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice and Hall of Fame distinctions.

It has also been listed by FlightNetwork as one of Canada’s Top 40 Adventures and named among the Top 5 Yoga Retreats in British Columbia.

The resort highlights its rafting program as a central offering, noting its use of small paddle rafts guided by professionals. The Nahatlatch River features more than 25 rapids rated Class 3–4+, and the resort emphasizes its long-standing safety record in the industry.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality and glamping industries, REO’s model underscores the potential of combining adventure tourism with wellness programming.

By pairing high-energy activities such as rafting with restorative practices like yoga, the resort appeals to diverse traveler segments seeking both excitement and relaxation.

The family-run approach, location-driven amenities, and integration of local partnerships in design and operations illustrate strategies that can help similar destinations differentiate themselves in a competitive market.

As REO prepares for its 2025 season, its evolution from a rafting outpost to a multi-experience destination highlights how niche outdoor resorts can expand offerings while retaining their original identity rooted in place.
