The BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA) has opened its third call for nominations to the board of directors, with a deadline of October 5.
The notice follows the organization’s bylaws and constitution, which require members to be given advance opportunity to participate in governance.
The nomination process, which has already begun, seeks active members interested in serving on the association’s policy and governance board.
Successful candidates will help guide the BCLCA through its mission, vision, and core operating values.
Nominations will close at 4 p.m. on October 5. Members who wish to put their name forward for a two-year term are encouraged to contact Joss Penny at [email protected].
According to the association, applicants will receive information about board responsibilities, committee structures, and meeting schedules, as well as the required nomination application form.
Applications will then be reviewed by the Nominating Committee. Candidates will be notified by October 20, if they have been added to the official slate of nominees.
In addition to the nomination process, BCLCA has announced its Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for November 4. The meeting will be held at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino in Cranbrook, beginning at 4 p.m.
The AGM will take place in person and is open to members who pre-register in advance. The association has emphasized the importance of attendance, as members will vote on key motions and elect board members.
The meeting agenda includes the approval of minutes from the previous AGM, acceptance of the accountant’s report from the prior fiscal year, and approval of the treasurer’s proposed budget for the upcoming year.
Members will also elect directors to two-year terms, a process directly tied to the nomination cycle now underway. Additionally, a motion will be presented to allow the board to appoint auditors for the next fiscal year.
The AGM will coincide with the Western Ideas Forum, scheduled for November 3–6 at the same venue in Cranbrook. The forum is expected to draw participants from across the outdoor hospitality sector.
