BC Parks Opens Online Camping Reservations

The cold winter season will not stop British Columbians (Canada) from preparing for the camping season at its provincial parks.

According to a BC Parks Facebook post, reservations are now open for spring camping in some provincial parks.

Beginning yesterday, January 3, campers can book four months from their arrival date.

“Group sites and picnic shelters will continue to be reservable on a one-year rolling window,” the post indicated.

For both front-country and backcountry bookings, the service will switch to a four-month rolling window beginning this year. This means that beginning on January 3, bookings will be available for arrivals up to May 3, and continuing on January 4, bookings will be available for arrivals up to May 4, and so on.

Group sites and picnic shelters, on the other hand, remain within a 12-month booking window.

Last year was a record-breaking year for BC Parks, with 317,000 camping bookings recorded in 2022, an increase of 26.5% compared to 2019.

This trend is expected to continue in the coming year, as more people look to nature and the outdoors for recreational activities.

In order to accommodate the increasing demand and ensure that everyone in the province has access to the parks and backcountry areas, BC officials vow to continuously commit to listening to public comments and making improvements to enhance the park experience.

BC Parks offer a variety of camping options where campers can choose from a range of activities, including hiking, fishing, and picnicking.

With the spring camping season fast approaching, those interested in reserving a campsite are encouraged to book early.

To make a reservation, campers can visit the BC Parks website or call the reservation phone line.

BC Parks’ website also provides detailed information on campsite availability, fees, and other important details, so pack your bags, load up your camping gear, and get ready to explore the great outdoors of British Columbia.
