The BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA) has opened the call for board nominations, with the process already underway ahead of the organization’s Annual General Meeting in November. Nominations will remain open until Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.
The association is seeking active members to stand for election to the Board of Directors for a two-year term.
BCLCA describes its board as a policy and governance body, guided by its mission, vision, and core operating values.
According to the notice, members who are interested in standing for election must contact Executive Director Joss Penny at [email protected] to receive details about board responsibilities, committee involvement, and the nomination application form.
Applications submitted before the deadline will be reviewed by the nominating committee. The committee will confirm by Oct. 20 whether applicants have been added to the slate of nominees.
The election of directors will take place during the BCLCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino in Cranbrook, a member property.
In addition to board elections, the AGM agenda includes several key motions. Members will be asked to approve the minutes of the previous AGM, the accountant’s report for the prior fiscal year, and the budget for the upcoming year.
Members will also vote on a motion allowing the board to appoint auditors for the following fiscal year. These actions are standard elements of the association’s governance process.
BCLCA stressed the importance of member participation in the AGM, noting that pre-registration is required. The organization encouraged members to mark their calendars and plan to attend in person.
The AGM is being held as part of the Western Ideas Forum, which runs from Nov. 3 to Nov. 6 at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino. The forum serves as a larger industry event bringing together lodging and campground operators.
Conference registration is now open, and attendees can access information through the Western Ideas Forum website. A 10% discount is available to participants using the promo code AGI0JNLP.
The call for board nominations and the upcoming AGM reflect BCLCA’s ongoing effort to engage members in shaping the direction of the association. Leadership roles on the board are considered central to guiding its policies and initiatives.
