The British Columbia government announced that construction will soon begin on 32 new campsites at a provincial park in Mission, part of a broader investment to expand outdoor recreation opportunities across the province.
According to the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks, the new campsites are expected to be completed by spring 2026, increasing the total number of drive-in sites at the park to 95.
The expansion follows a series of recent upgrades aimed at enhancing accessibility and visitor experience.
In May 2024, the park added 17 walk-in sites, 30 new parking stalls, a communal shelter, bike racks, bear-proof storage, and picnic tables.
The upcoming development aligns with B.C.’s goal to meet growing demand for camping and outdoor recreation while improving inclusivity and environmental sustainability.
The universal design standards are also being incorporated into all new campsites to ensure accessibility for visitors of all abilities.
Existing park facilities have also been updated to reflect those standards. The toilet and shower building, as well as service centers, have received accessibility improvements.
In addition to accessibility features, the CA$4-million project includes electrical and wastewater system upgrades to support long-term infrastructure needs.
Once construction is completed, visitors will have access to improved facilities and expanded options for camping.
As Mission prepares to welcome new campsites, nearby destinations also offer a variety of options for travelers exploring the Vancouver Coast & Mountains region. According to the British Columbia Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLA), some of the best campsites near Mission include Aloha RV Park in Abbotsford, which provides easy access to both city amenities and outdoor attractions, and Eagle Wind RV Park in Aldergrove, known for its quiet, natural setting.
