In an astounding feat of off-road prowess, Sunseeker Caravans, a leading RV manufacturer hailing from Queensland, has emerged as the new force in all-terrain caravaning.
The company has successfully towed its two-and-a-half-tonne Vision V16 hybrid family caravan along the Blue Rag Range Track, a daunting route located in Victoria’s High Country. The extraordinary journey marked a significant demonstration of the caravan’s capabilities, far removed from the typical family holiday park setting.
Sunseeker Caravans, known for their sturdy, Australian-made products, orchestrated the daring venture to underscore the resilience of their heavy-duty range. For this expedition, they paired their caravan with a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.
Together, the duo formed a considerable rig, stretching nearly 12 meters and weighing around five tonnes. Even faced with the steep, narrow, and frequently rutted terrain of the Blue Rag Range Track, they performed admirably.
The ‘bucket list’ challenge presented by the Blue Rag Range Track is widely respected among off-road enthusiasts. Nevertheless, this endeavour formed only part of an adventurous four-day itinerary through the Victorian High Country.
Sunseeker Caravans’ intrepid leader, Chris Michel, embarked from a client’s rural property in Mansfield and tackled a variety of obstacles, including boggy mud holes, river crossings, and tracks obstructed by fallen trees.
The expedition culminated at the Blue Rag Trig point, standing at a soaring 1726 meters. The site, offering unrivalled 360-degree views of the Victorian High Country, is a sought-after destination for camper trailers despite its challenging 8km ascent.
The Vision V16 hybrid caravan could well be the most opulent off-road caravan to reach the peak, with a Tare weight of 2500kg, an overall length of 7.22m, and a travel height and width of 2.6m and just over 2.0m respectively, according to specifications from the Vision RV website.
To celebrate the caravan’s triumphant voyage, Sunseeker has released a promotional video teeming with captivating footage. For a more detailed account, viewers can tune into the Creek to Coast TV show on Channel 7 in Queensland at 5 pm on May 27th. Those residing outside Queensland can stream the episode via the 7Plus app.
The actual Vision V16 hybrid caravan that took on the Blue Rag Range Track will also make a special appearance at this year’s Queensland Caravan Supershow at the Brisbane Showgrounds from June 6-11.
The event will also showcase an extensive range of Sunseeker, Marvel, and Vision vans for public viewing.
Additionally, the Brisbane Supershow will witness the debut of Sunseeker’s Melbourne-built Titanium range of off-road caravans. Furthermore, Marvel’s brand-new 2024 off-road caravans range will also be unveiled at the show.
Open from 9 am to 5 pm (6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays), the Supershow is located at the Brisbane Showgrounds, 600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills. Entry is priced at $20 for adults, $17 for concessions, with children granted free admission.
This achievement by Sunseeker Caravans signifies a remarkable leap in modern caravan capabilities. It demonstrates that today’s caravans, equipped with innovative design and engineering, can tread paths far off the beaten track.
As the RV and caravan industry continues to evolve, manufacturers like Sunseeker are challenging the status quo, inspiring customers to re-envision the boundaries of caravanning.
