Scarness Caravan Park Redevelopment: Boosting Local Economy

The Scarness Caravan Park, a popular destination located in the Fraser Coast region of Australia, is set to undergo a significant redevelopment.

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has awarded a AU$1.8 million tender to Rejuvenate Construction Solutions to commence the first phase of this multi-million-dollar project.

The redevelopment will include the construction of a new caravan park manager’s office/residence, amenities, a camp kitchen, and barbecues.

The project, which is already underway, also includes a AU$3.2 million contract with Murphy Builders to construct roads and install underground power, water, and sewerage systems in preparation for the new facilities. While the work is in progress, the eastern section of the park will remain open for fully self-contained campers.

The redevelopment is being undertaken in stages, with the new western facilities set to open as they are completed. The aim is to have all works completed by 2024. Once the new section is opened, work on the next eastern section will commence, according to the Hervey Bay Advertiser.

The end result of this redevelopment will be a more modern caravan park, catering to the needs of today’s tourists. This project is an example of how local government-owned caravan parks can contribute to the local economy of communities.

By investing in these facilities, local governments can attract more tourists, create jobs, and stimulate local economic growth.

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has made it a key focus over the next five years to plan for the future and effectively manage and maintain its assets. This redevelopment project is a clear example of how the council is working to achieve these outcomes for their community.

The redevelopment of the Scarness Caravan Park is not just a local event. It is part of a broader trend of local governments investing in caravan parks to boost their local economies. This trend is being seen across Australia and around the world.
