New Caravan Park and Function Center to Boost Local Economy in Millstream

The Tablelands Regional Council has approved a new development project in Millstream, a small town in Queensland, Australia. The project involves the construction of a caravan park and function center with a capacity to accommodate 100 people.

Located on Kennedy Highway, the development will feature 11 cabins (yurts), 21 powered/slab caravan sites, eight drive-through caravan sites, and eight camping sites according to an article by The Express Newspaper.

Jenny Bafico, the owner of Millstream General Store and the developer of the project, is excited about the development and has garnered over 100 signatures in support from local residents.

The council and local authorities are also in full support of the project, seeing it as a step forward for the region. The new park aims to boost local businesses and tourism, allowing travelers to stay for up to three months.

The potential impact of the project on local businesses and tourism is significant. The caravan park and function center will attract more visitors to the region, increasing the demand for local goods and services.

This, in turn, will create more job opportunities for the local community and contribute to the economic development of the region.

The broader implications of the project for the Millstream region are also positive. The development will enhance the region’s tourism infrastructure, making it more attractive to visitors. It will also contribute to the diversification of the local economy, reducing its dependence on traditional industries.

Despite economic uncertainty, there has been a surge in caravan and camping holidays in Australia. The Caravan Industry Association of Australia, in collaboration with Ecotourism Australia, is working towards sustainability for caravanning and camping tourism enterprises through the Strive 4 Sustainability program.

Tourism Australia provides a range of statistics on international and domestic tourism in Australia. It includes interactive charts with the latest statistics on international visitors to Australia, including arrivals and spend, international aviation capacity and flights per week to Australia, and visitation, aviation, and expenditure data for Australia’s top inbound markets.

Tourism is of great economic importance to Australia. In 2020-21, tourism directly contributed 1.6% of Australia’s GDP and directly employed 507,000 people.

However, the tourism industry in Australia has faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a decrease in visitor arrivals and spend.

The potential demand for the new caravan park and function center in Millstream is high, given the overall tourism trends in Australia and the efforts of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia towards sustainability. The development will cater to the growing demand for caravan and camping facilities, providing a sustainable option for travelers.

The new development project in Millstream is a positive step forward for the region. It will boost local businesses and tourism, contribute to the economic development of the region, and cater to the growing demand for caravan and camping facilities.

Despite the challenges faced by the tourism industry in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project has the potential to bring significant benefits to the Millstream community and the broader region.
