Latest Updates on Australian Parks: What Travelers Need to Know

Travelers planning to visit Australian parks should be aware of several updates that may affect their plans. The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P) have issued several alerts regarding park conditions and closures.

Firstly, the Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area is undergoing planned site rehabilitation and maintenance. The area is closed for camping and vehicle access until further notice. This closure is part of the ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the natural environment of the park.

Secondly, the Errk Oykangand National Park (CYPAL) has extended its temporary closure. The park is currently inaccessible due to the ongoing wet conditions that have made the roads unsafe for travel. The closure is expected to last until the conditions improve and the roads are safe for visitors.

In Wooroonooran National Park, heavy rain has impacted Josephine Creek and Falls. The creek is closed until further notice due to fast flowing, high water levels. However, the walking track and viewing platforms remain accessible to visitors.

Lastly, a planned burn is scheduled to take place in Bunyaville Conservation Park from July 27th to August 3rd, 2023. This burn is part of the annual hazard reduction and conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result, smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Bunya, Albany Creek, Arana Hills, Eatons Hill, McDowall, and Ferny Hills areas.

Travelers including these parks in their travel plans may have to adjust. The closures and conditions can significantly affect travel plans, and it’s important for visitors to stay informed about the latest updates.

Travelers can recuperate by exploring other open parks and attractions in Australia. The country is home to a vast array of national parks and marine parks, each offering unique experiences and breathtaking views.

While these updates may cause temporary inconveniences, they are necessary for the preservation of Australia’s natural treasures. Travelers are encouraged to check the latest park alerts at https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/ before planning their visit.
