Keppel Sands Caravan Park has officially reopened following extensive upgrades, marking the completion of a year-long revitalization project that began in October 2024.
The grand reopening was celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following a soft launch over the Easter holiday earlier this year.
The park, now under the management of Murray and Deb McLay, who also operate Yeppoon’s Beachside Holiday Caravan Park, has been upgraded to enhance both the guest experience and the park’s contribution to the local economy.
The redevelopment includes new powered sites, a refreshed four-star amenities block, a pickleball court, a crazy mini golf course, a plunge pool, and landscaped areas.
Situated in the seaside village of Keppel Sands, the park has long been a destination for campers, anglers, and families seeking a quiet coastal retreat.
According to the McLays, the project was not only focused on infrastructure improvements but also on supporting the community that surrounds it.
“Keppel Sands is a really special place with so much local pride,” Murray McLay said in a press release.
“Our goal has been to elevate the guest experience while keeping that friendly, small-town feel. We want the park to support local jobs and businesses and to help put Keppel Sands back on the map as a must-visit stop along the Capricorn Coast.”
Mary Carroll, CEO of Capricorn Enterprise, said the reopening contributes positively to regional tourism and strengthens the area’s accommodation options.
“The Capricorn Coast continues to shine as a destination for self-drive visitors, and the re-opening of Keppel Sands Caravan Park adds even more depth to our region’s Holiday Park accommodation offering,” Carroll said.
“The upgrades made by Murray and Deb have created a fantastic space that enhances the visitor experience and benefits the entire Keppel Sands community.”
For outdoor hospitality operators, the park’s redevelopment highlights the ongoing trend of regional holiday parks investing in quality infrastructure to attract year-round visitation.
Upgrades such as family-oriented recreation areas and improved amenities reflect broader shifts in consumer expectations—where guests are increasingly looking for a blend of comfort, activity, and authenticity in regional stays.
With bookings now open year-round, the upgraded Keppel Sands Caravan Park offers a renewed experience that balances modern amenities with its traditional coastal charm, supporting both tourism growth and community development in the Capricorn Coast region.
