G’day Group Welcomes David Hassan as New CTO

G’day Group, one of the leading names in Australia’s caravan tourism industry, has recently announced the appointment of David Hassan as their new Chief Technology Officer. Hassan, a highly respected technology and product leader, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked with prominent companies such as Qantas, Virgin, and Helloworld Travel.

His most recent tenure was as the chief technology and information officer with recruitment firm Hudson.

The founder and CEO of G’day Group, Grant Wilckens, expressed his delight at Hassan’s appointment, stating that his expertise would be crucial as the company seeks to unlock its growth potential through ongoing digital transformation.

The company, which has been a successful property company for 18 years, acquiring and developing quality holiday park properties around Australia, has ambitions to become a $2.5 billion company in the next five years.

To achieve this ambitious goal, G’day Group plans to pursue growth through digital transformation. This will streamline the customer experience in their parks and unlock latent value in their suite of digital tools, including WikiCamps and the G’day Parks booking and loyalty platform.

Hassan’s appointment is a strategic move to lead this technology and digital program, supporting the company’s strategic ambitions and maintaining its position as a market leader in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Hassan will be based in Sydney, reflecting the group’s national footprint. He expressed his excitement about joining G’day Group at a time when the organization is undergoing rapid growth and creating new opportunities. He believes that technology plays a fundamental role in underpinning organizational growth and in meeting and exceeding the expectations of consumers.

“To be able to make a difference not only to the way in which the company operates but also in the way we create memorable experiences for our guests is something I’m really looking forward to,” Hassan said in a June 30 press release.

Hassan joins a senior management team that now also includes Chief Financial Officer Karen Jarrett. Prior to joining G’day Group, Karen was CFO at global fitness company Sweat. She has also held senior roles at ZEN Energy and Simec Energy Australia and rejoins G’day Group having previously worked for the company from 2010 to 2015.

Founded by Grant Wilckens in 2004 with three caravan parks in WA, G’day Group is now Australia’s leader in regional accommodation experiences with more than 300 properties across the country. The company reached $1 billion status in 2020 and has ambitions to double in size in the next five years.

CEO Grant Wilckens is the chair of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia and a board director of the South Australian Tourism Commission.
