Brigadoon Holiday Park in New South Wales, Australia will commemorate its one-year anniversary of the catastrophic floods on March 19, Saturday.
Twelve months ago, tremendous support was given after the flood left a trail of destruction in North Haven park. Some flood-related work remains, but the celebration is about giving back that support, as per a report.
Brigadoon Holiday Park manager Claire Stevenson said they wanted to keep bringing optimism to the park for the anniversary.
Aussie Battlers will hold a raffle in conjunction with the anniversary event.
The non-profit organization Make a Difference will provide refreshments at 3 p.m. and an early barbecue dinner at 5 p.m. before musician Hayden Ashton entertains in a campfire session at 6 p.m.
Ashton, who founded The Real Australian Dream, will perform classic songs to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Australia. This charity has given more than 10,000 memorable wishes across the country.
The musician is currently on a 50-show tour across the country, performing at campgrounds and caravan parks to support Make-A-wish Australia.
The fundraising total is approximately AU$2500 to AU$3000 after a couple of weeks with a target goal of AU$50,000.
Brigadoon Holiday Park seeks a minimum gold coin donation from the guests at the event to support Make-A-Wish Australia.
Donations can be made via the Great Australian Dream website to the campfire session tour to Make-A-Wish Australia.
Ashton will also attend the campfire program at the Dunbogan Caravan Park on March 18, Friday at 5 p.m.
Stevenson acknowledged that it was a challenging year for everyone, and instead of commiserating, they wanted to get positive vibes during the anniversary celebration.
She said that the aftermath of the floods continued for 12 months, but the people were healing.
Stevenson also mentioned that the natural disaster brought people together, and the support from the local community and beyond was incredible.
She added that they were empathizing with the victims of the recent flooding.
