Australia Caravan & Camping Expos Canceled, Postponed Due To Pandemic

Some caravan and camping shows and events in Australia have been canceled due to the pandemic. Due to the ongoing lockdowns in the country, organizers have had to cancel many popular shows. These include annual events in Bendigo (Victoria) and Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

According to an article, Caravanning Queensland which was originally scheduled for August 20-22 has canceled the 2021 Let’s Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo. Caravan Industry Victoria has also canceled the 2021 Border Caravan & Camping Expo which was supposed to be held at Wodonga Race Course on the same dates.

The organizers of the Sydney 4WD and Adventure Show at Western Sydney International Dragway have also decided to move their show to March 4-6 in 2022. While another popular outdoor adventure show that was originally scheduled for late August is being moved to November 26-28. T

CIV successfully managed the Victorian Caravan, Camping, and Touring Supershow in May. The CIV moved it to a later date at a new site. Between lockdowns, other smaller shows like the Toowoomba Outdoor Adventure & Motoring Expo were also held, the report said.

“As a result of the current COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown restrictions currently in place for parts of South-East Queensland, we have made the decision to cancel the upcoming Let’s Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo,” Caravanning Queensland announced on its website two weeks ago.

Caravanning Queensland held the inaugural Sunshine Coast Caravan and Outdoor Expo at the Nambour Showgrounds in 2019, but it had to cancel for two years in a row now due to COVID restrictions. They wish to still run the 2021 Let’s Go Brisbane Caravan & Outdoor Sale from Oct 28-31. CIV will also host the Melbourne Leisurefest at Sandown Racecourse from October 7-10 and the Bendigo Leisurefest at Bendigo Racecourse from November 19-21, the report said.

Show organizers have had a difficult 18 months. The pandemic caused many caravan shows to be canceled or delayed in 2020. Many were also replaced by an online format, according to the report.
