Department of Municipalities and Transport has recently announced the opening of Al Wathba Lake, which will offer Abu Dhabi residents one more attractive and secure location for picnicking and .
According to a report, the multi-purposesites will provide residents and tourists an unforgettable user-friendly experience that enhances and enriches the Emirates’ leisure and options.
The creation of an eco-friendlyand picnic site in conjunction with the artificial lake, which is located in the Al Wathba cycling track, could be a venue for events and activities to promote wellbeing and health for residents and the natural environment.
The new Abu Dhabisites surround Al Wathba Lake, with all-inclusive protection of the natural habitat and controlled access to safeguard and preserve the lake’s shorelines and its breathtaking fusion with the desert landscape.
The project features 13 separate campsites with a stunning view of the lake or the desert with a capacity of up to 120 guests, with the option of establishingor using recreation vehicles (RVs) in a breathtaking natural setting.
The campsite also has 24 picnic areas with designated barbecue areas and 3,000 square meters ofand gathering space for more than 500 people per day.
The project will provide funactivities for visitors and include a 1,400-meter running and walking path around the lake. It also has a new 1,200-meter-long cycle pump track that will consist of an activity rental center with two volleyball courts and seven playgrounds. In addition to a pontoon walk and two observation decks to enjoy the site’s panoramic views.
H.E Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, acting director-general of Operational Affairs in Department of Municipalities and Transport, said the sites would appeal to a wide range of campers, families, and nature lovers, whether they are adventure enthusiasts who will enjoy our new attraction areas or a cyclist who wants to reconnect with this unique landscape while ensuring that the natural surroundings are preserved, and Abu Dhabi’s amazing biodiversity protected.

The, which is a 45 minutes drive from the center of Abu Dhabi, offers a range of pitches and a variety of service pitches. The 8-meter-wide Gatch Trail pitch is compacted and graded to permit RVs and other vehicles access to the campgrounds and other areas within site.
